The Dance Corner (located next to McCaffrey’s in the Southfield Shopping Center in West Windsor) believes that exceptional dance instruction should emphasize more than dance. From preschoolers just beginning to appreciate movement and music to seasoned pre-professional dancers, The Dance Corner encourages our students to explore new styles, challenge their abilities, grow in technique, and build confidence.
TDC offers a wide variety of classes in multiple dance styles, at all levels. Offering more than 50 individual classes, in multiple styles, taught by 11 instructors, TDC has both a depth and breadth of experience unmatched in the area. Our instructors have professional experience with dance companies, national and international theater and dance touring programs, as well as college and community theater programs throughout the United States. Classes are offered on a convenient schedule that accounts for the needs of busy families. Classes for our youngest students are offered at multiple times including mornings, evenings, and weekends to accommodate both working families and those who are looking to supplement part-time preschool schedules. Adult recreational classes and senior dance classes ensure that the joy of dance can be experienced at all ages.
Classes are offered year round on a convenient schedule – concluding with a recital opportunity. For students looking to grow their confidence and performance experience through competition, TDC houses an audition-only Elite Team, which competes at regional and national levels. For families looking for more than the traditional recital experience, TDC is also home to the West Windsor Plainsboro Dance Company, which stages a seasonal performance of The Nutcracker Suite in addition to rotating Spring performances.
Since 2001, The Dance Corner has been a home to students from local and neighboring school districts including West Windsor, Plainsboro, East Windsor, Cranbury, Princeton, Robbinsville, Monroe, Allentown, Montgomery, Lawrenceville, Ewing, and Hamilton. Our dance family extends far beyond the bounds of the local community, connecting our students in a special way.
The Dance Corner operates in two side-by-side 2,000-square-foot studios with professional-quality sprung dance floors and a state-of-the-art sound system. Floor to ceiling mirrors provide dancers with unobstructed views in order to apply teacher feedback to technique and to observe themselves as part of a large group. Our waiting room offers a free WiFi connection, allowing our older students to work on homework between classes and keeping parents connected while they are in our studio. We maintain a TV in the waiting room to highlight past recitals and WWPDC productions. TDC maintains various announcement boards outside each studio to keep families informed about upcoming events, auditions, notifications, and community events in which our students are involved. The Dance Corner is conveniently located within the Southfield Shopping center with access to several dining and shopping establishments for dancers who need a snack or drink between classes. Parents can also visit our Southfield Shopping Center neighbors while their dancers are in class to grab a bite to eat, have a cup of coffee, or do some last minute grocery shopping.
